The World Around You

The world around you
is chaos in a pickle jar, red and green sloshing
against thin plastic walls.
It is a slurry of every primal instinct
and emotion, bound
by fuzzy rules, improvised cultures, and
flawed people. It is beautiful
in its colors of land and skin and sky, atrocious
in steel and smoke and tears,
confused and confusing,
overwhelming and overwhelmed
by every footprint on its soil,
every wing in the air,
every star in the void.

It is melted glass oozing
for your lips to blow.
It is muddled clay yearning
for your hands to mold.
It is opportunity and pain,
fortune and suffering,
every emotion and experience waiting
to be unwrapped and to be had.
This is the world around you,
the world your whole life waited for.
