Hard Work Pays Off
I’m running out of time,
sprinting across this race track to finish
every idea and give life to
every daydream that I’ve ever had.
Time sweats out of my pores as I hustle
down this track that grows ever shorter,
but I don’t want it to grow shorter
until there’s no more track to run on.
It hurts like a
nightmare,
where my legs kick helplessly
into air but I go
nowhere and just flounder.
I am drowning,
the air bubbles float higher
as I sink ever lower
until bubbles beget darkness.
I’m running out of time,
time until the pressure that’s festered
bursts through my spine,
and I have no more time to run.
